We don't only try and make the world a better place by offering greener car rental, we give back to our local community as well. Locations all over the world take part in fundraising year round, and helping out people who need it most. Below you'll find a snapshot of some of the recent work our fantastic employees have been involved in.
Green Motion donates to local charity the Winter Night Shelter
We are pleased to once again support local Milton Keynes charity, the Winter Night Shelter. The Winter Night Shelter are a fantastic charity who support the homeless, vulnerable and those with mental health struggles in Milton Keynes.
Green Motion head office donates to Samaritan Operation Christmas Child
The initiative involves collecting items suitable for children, and then packing them up in a shoebox (or similar sized box) so they have a mixture of toys, colouring pens, notepads, toiletries and other items that they are short of. Items such as a bar of soap can make a big difference to children without these luxuries and so they are delighted when they open their boxes.
Support provided to Milton Keynes Government for Afghan families arriving into the UK
Following the recent evacuation from Afghanistan of Afghan nationals, we were advised that 28 families were relocated to the city of Milton Keynes which is very close to our head office in Woburn, in the UK. An appeal for help was led by Paul Trendell and Emily Darlington from Milton Keynes local government for items to assist the families who arrived in the United Kingdom having nothing with them other than the clothes on their back.
Stonewall Donation
As part of Pride 2021, we are proud to once again stand by Stonewall and their strategy to create a world where all LGBTQ+ people are free to be, and have made a donation to help them achieve their mission. This donation will help them work towards bans on conversion therapy, laws against hate crimes and hate speech, better guidelines on LGBTQ+ asylum claims, and legal recognition that respects and protects individuals and their relationships.
Green Motion supports charity Ben Nevis climb
The team at Green Motion are very proud to support 'Stevie & Nay's Ben Nevis Challenge', helping Stevie and Naomi raise money for Lymphoma Action. Unfortunately Stevie's father was diagnosed with a rare type of lymphoma last year, so she is climbing Ben Nevis later this month to raise money for the charity supporting him.
Midlands charity delivers 45,000 hot meals during pandemic
At the beginning of the lockdown in the UK the owners of Green Motion Midlands & Scotland announced their intention to provide free van rental to charities who need it to support their efforts during these unprecedented times. One of the charities who took up their offer was the Midland Langar Seva Society, who help the those in need around the UK.
Green Motion Delivers Even More Support for Charities
Green Motion vans have been out in force across Scotland and the Midlands supporting local charities throughout this pandemic. Vinay and Viral Pala, who own the franchises across Scotland and the Midlands, have always been known for the way that they prioritise giving back to their local communities. At the beginning of May they started offering free van rentals to any registered charities that needed them to cope with the increased demand due to Covid_19. We are delighted to be able to report that many charities have taken us up on this offer.

Environmentally focused car & van rental brand Green Motion announced today that the owners of their Scotland and Midlands franchises are working with local registered charities to provide free commercial vehicle rental throughout the month of May to provide essential services to those most in need during the COVID-19 crisis.

The British Asian Trust was founded in 2007 by HRH The Prince of Wales and a group of British Asian business leaders, to tackle widespread poverty, inequality and injustice in South Asia. The trust works directly with communities and focus’ their efforts on education, livelihoods, anti-trafficking and mental health.

Green Motion UK makes headlines with their 'Giving Back' campaign
Green Motion Midlands & Scotland are launching a 'Giving Back' campaign as part of their on-going commitment to give back to the communities we serve. The first project for 2020 enabled the team to donate £2,100.00 to Abbey Mead Primary Academy in Leicester, to fund the school's eco-projects which included the installation of a new wooden bike shed for the children to use.
Fundraising For Firefighters - Australian Bushfires
Since September, blazes have swept the continent of Australia leaving their human, vegetation and animal population in complete devastation. Almost 2,000 homes have been destroyed, at least 25 people have died and almost half a billion animals have been murdered by the unforgiving flames.
